Samsung Galaxy S21 series launch date is yet to be confirmed by the company. However, a teaser video has now been posted that sets the stage for the new launch by recalling the history of the Galaxy S-series lineup. An alleged invite of the Galaxy S21 series launch has also been leaked. Separately, a tipster has reiterated that the new Galaxy phones would debut with no charger and earbuds in the box. This particular change could be Samsung’s move aligning with Apple that also ditched in-box accessories with the launch of the iPhone 12 models this year.
While not a lot is officially confirmed yet about the specifications of the phone, the Galaxy S21 is expected to launch this month. The series is also expected to have a Plus and Ultra variant. The phone has already gone up for pre-ordering by Samsung China and Samsung US has also offered free accessories worth USD 50 (about Rs 3,600) for users who pre-book their S21. The Samsung US offer also adds that the pre-order period is only valid until the midnight of January 28. This hints that the Samsung Galaxy S21 could launch before this date, and go on sale pretty soon thereafter.
Although the video doesn’t provide any particular details about what Samsung is preparing for the coming year, it indeed makes the pitch ready for the lineup that is rumoured to comprise Samsung Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and Galaxy S21 Ultra as the three new models.
In addition to the teaser video, tipster Ishan Agarwal on Wednesday posted a tweet that talked about the absence of the charger and earbuds from the retail box of the Galaxy S21 series. He said that the details would at least be applicable in the UK, though some recent reports suggested a similar change in other markets as well. The tipster mentioned that only a USB Type-C cable will be present in the box, along with the handset.
Samsung Galaxy S21 expected specifications:-
The Samsung Galaxy S21 is expected to feature a 6.2-inch flat display with a centre-aligned punch-hole camera. Rumours reported by Android Authority and trusted tipster Evan Blass suggest the phone will sport a triple-camera setup on the back with a flash. A similar design is also expected for the larger Samsung Galaxy S21 Plus. Meanwhile, an S21 Ultra variant is rumoured to feature five camera sensors on the rear.
As per rumours, Samsung is also expected to drop the in-box charging adapter for the Samsung Galaxy S21 series. These speculations started arising after the brand got rid of all its posts mocking Apple for removing the charging adapter from the Apple iPhone 12 series packaging. As we get closer to a launch, whether this rumour is true remains to be seen.
About Galaxy S21 series:
We already know a lot about what the Galaxy S21 will bring to the table despite this teaser not confirming anything officially. The Galaxy S21 will have the same centered hole-punch as the S20, but with a flat display and slimmer bezels. The phone is also adopting a new camera module design on the back which melds into the frame. The leaked renders so far have been pretty gorgeous.
After those vague messages, Samsung dives into the history of the Galaxy S series with each older model transforming into the next year’s revision and with each change highlighting the biggest physical differences between each phone. For example, we can see design changes, the addition of water resistance on Galaxy S5, the curved screen of S6 and S7, the home button removal on S8, and the arrival of the hole-punch on Galaxy S10 and S20. It’s a slick little video.
The animated teaser is tinted in purple, which appears to be the hero color for the S21 generation. Here are renders of the S21 and S21+ in purple:
